CNN:
Experts to reexamine possible autism/thimerosal vaccine link. It’s no longer an issue if you’re currently pregnant: “The American Academy of Pediatrics and the U.S. Public Health Service recommended removing thimerosal from childhood vaccines in 1999 as a precaution.”
A dozen years ago, I had a severe allergic reaction to contact-lens solution that contained thimerosal. Thank goodness the sensitization passed after a few years, and I could wear contacts again with no ill effects.
But given that experience, I can readily believe thimerosal is evil stuff, when used in inauspicious ways. I question the doctor who dimisses it, saying kids ‘poop it all out;’ this opinion sounds like it’s not based on scientific data. Obviously, more research is needed. Whether or not it’s thimerosal/mercury ... I have an abnormally-high ratio of friends and acquaintances who’ve had autistic children; one can’t ignore that *something* is going on.
