Back to the future.

The funniest thing I’ve seen in a while.  The old military canteen returns, as a green solution to carrying water.  It seems they’re lining the canvas with waterproof material, which may ruin the wet-the-canvas-to-cool-the-water trick.  Then again, I suppose noone wants a soggy iPhone ...

Especially funny given the military has shifted entirely to Camelbacks for hands-free hydration.

I suppose it would be a bit much (today - the limit for “bit much” changes fast lately) to see lawyers etc wearing camelbacks.

I salute the manufacturers for going straight to stainless.  The interim (Vietnam era) plastic bottles left a foul taste to the water.

Camelbacks don’t taste so great, either.  Even when you douse ‘em regularly with the fizzy cleaner stuff.

Stainless bike bottles ... hmmm.  Maybe I should invest in a couple, but on the terrain around here, I tend to pop them out without realizing. Perhaps they’ll make enough noise when they hit the dirt (pavement, whatever) that I’ll notice they’ve ejected prematurely.
