CNet: Stephen Hawking says nomadic aliens might crush us.

Nick Bostrom also had an interesting take on this subject. His contention: if we’re not contacting aliens, there must be some challenge, some barrier that advancing civilizations hit, that rubs them out. The fact we’ve survived this long, means our greatest test is before us, not behind us. Worthy of many an hour of contemplation, that. Is it even possible to prepare effectively for an unknown extinction-level event?

Great question Garret, my answer is ‘get out of Dodge’. Exodus, run away, etc. If our home world is likely to become uninhabitable for some reason we, (the human race) will need to move on. But, before any of that happens the sooner we humans decide that human survival is priority number one and, set our sights and actions on developing off earth colonies, the greater are the chances for human survival. I suspect that given enough time and a wide enough spread of survivable humanity we will thrive in the far reaches of space.
But if we can’t agree that human survival is the number one priority then perhaps the bones of our civilization will be left for a superior species to contemplate.
