dangerousmeta!, the original new mexican miscellany, offering eclectic linkage since 1999.

I got an offer from Travel+Leisure the other day.

An email from Flickr. They wanted to use one of my photos for a ‘road trip’ article on their website. I decided to ignore it.

Why?

First off, they chose one of my photos of a *railroad*. Can’t quite figure out that logic (road trip > railroad?). Perhaps I shouldn’t try. Second of all, they offered a name credit and a link, but no compensation … yet want permission to reuse the image across all American Express entities. Ding-ding, warning bells. Third, I dug through the other images they’ve gotten rights to in the past, and they’re all humdrum. Lots of cheap stockhouse stuff. I have no interest in being part of that ‘elite group.’

I value even my throwaways higher than this.
